In 1980, after 97 years of existence, the Philadelphia Phillies finally became World Champions. With two pennants under their belts, the Phillies struggled to obtain a third and barely missed trips to the World Series in 1976, 1977 and 1978. The Kansas City Royals were also a perennial powerhouse team that couldn’t get over the hump and win the pennant in the late 1970’s. The 1980 World Series featured these two teams, with the Phillies winning in six games for the first World Series title in the history of their franchise. This jersey is made of polyester and has burgundy and white striped trim sewn down the shoulders and sides. It features the Phils' trademark swirl "P" logo on the front in two-layer twill. There is the National League Centennial patch on the right sleeve and the Phillies' Liberty Bell patch on the left sleeve. The player's number is in burgundy on white twill numbers sewn on the front and back and has the player's name in an arc of block letters on the back.
